About Us

  Here for Jesus,

 Here for you

We are the only Perpetual Adoration Chapel in New Orleans proper.  Always open when you need it the most.

We have always come from churches all over the Archdiocese.  The building where the Chapel is located was erected in the 1960s as a convent for the Sisters of Mercy.  Louisiana artist Conrad Albrizio painted and installed the Chapel's Stations of the Cross.  Not long after this, the building was sold to the Holy Name of Jesus Parish to serve as their parish center and rectory.

The Perpetual Adoration Chapel as it is now was opened in February of 1989.  Started by Adele Hughs and Marie Wojack, with Dominican Sister Jordan, the Chapel soon operated 24/7 for the benefit of all.  Until August 29, 2005.  The first adorers to be able to come back into the city after Hurricane Katrina could not get into the city until six weeks later.  To this day, many of our adorers come from outside New Orleans.  It was a struggle, but eventually the dedicated adorers who had made it home opened the doors for two days a week.  Then two days became three, and three days became four.  Now we are back to being perpetual.

There is always a need for adorers.  This weekly devotion has helped countless people.  All it takes from you is one hour a week.  Won't you dedicate that little time for the Lord?
